Re: Resurrection of the Original BosaikNet Server
Windows sucks quite a bit on old systems, and I'd like to get it running a Minecraft server ahead of the 10th BosaikNet Anniversary on February 1st. Naturally, the answer is Linux. I picked Debian 12 (Bookworm) since I have the most experience in it, and for no other reason. The install process wasn ...

Re: Resurrection of the Original BosaikNet Server
I've moved the topic into Technology Discussion to allow comments. I also promised pictures , and will deliver. Due to a reading comprehension issue I didn't get the new cooler installed; that'll come later and with more ARGB.

Re: Resurrection of the Original BosaikNet Server
Yesterday I brought the computer up to Windows 11, using Rufus to bypass normal hardware checks. Why? Because I wanted to see if I could.
I performed an upgrade installation over Windows 10 as I didn't want to go through Windows Setup again. The process went well, except for a hiccup during the ...

Re: Resurrection of the Original BosaikNet Server
Yes, GameServer-1 is still running, and I use it for miscellaneous office tasks. I've bought a bunch of parts for it, and the incremental upgrades I've performed over the last year will be supplemented with a host of new parts to further improve on the server.

Dell XPS L701X and Windows 10 22H2
Yes, the Dell XPS L701X runs Windows 10 just fine, despite what Dell says , and I wrote this post on it. It'll work for you too; you'll just have to do some work with drivers and probably upgrade your hardware. I'm using a Windows 10 Pro license inherited from a Windows 7 Professional upgrade from ...

GameServer-1 Upgrades
Every one of BosaikNet's GameServers, except for GameServer-3 (which was split into two computers and repurposed), continues to be operable. Lately, I've put a good amount of effort into bringing BosaikNet's original GameServer up to peak performance.

State of BosaikNet Services - December 2018
Server : The server is due for regular maintenance, so some downtime is expected sometime around the weekend of 8 December 2018.
I have been mentioning it for some time, but now it is finally implemented. All game servers will start automatically, update automatically (where applicable), and ...

State of BosaikNet Services -- September thru November 2018
Server : Server is about due for a cleaning, but so far the hardware is stable. More RAM will be coming in the future, letting us host more things. The IP changed following the Woolsey Fire Spectrum outage, and is now at 104.32.4.233.

Re: Resurrection of the Original BosaikNet Server
It's alive!
Both the power supply and processor had to be replaced. The CPU cooler is also in need of replacement due to poor performance, but that does not impact the computer's functionality (yet). Thermals were helped by using a newer Pentium D with a lower TDP (940 to 945 == 130W to 95W ...

UT2003 Stats
We no longer require a UT2003 stats account to be created to join the server, since those stats don't seem be to be going anywhere anyways. Reviewing logs, this was the biggest connection issue the server has had.
